Day 9: Leaving Cornwall - Exeter and Beer (the place, not the drink)

Today we left our hostel in Penzance with all our stuff. We got on the coach and went to Dartmoor. Dartmoor is a wild moorland and National Park in England. After a two hour drive we made a little break to go to the toilet. Then Felix told us something about the place, his presentation was really informative and interesting. 

In our second break we took pictures of sheep and horses. At Postbridge we took a group picture on one of the famous Clapper Bridges and we got some pizzas from yesterday’s dinner. Then we got back on the coach and Hansi, the bus driver, took us to Exeter. It´s a historic city in southwest England, known for its impressive cathedral, Roman heritage and vibrant university atmosphere. We visited the famous cathedral where Ulli gave us much information about it, especially about how it was built and the history. Lara also gave us some important facts about Exeter. 

Afterwards we had some free time where we could buy something or explore other sights in the town. Then we went to our new hostel in Beer where we got dinner from Hansi, we ate sausages and drank a Frucade, it was very delicious. At about 20:30 some of us went to the beach to look at the beautiful sea and take pictures. The people who stayed at the hostel played soccer or volleyball outside. Overall, it was a really nice day and we got many new impressions.

1st day/journey to England/

3am - 54 kids sitting in a bus and ahead of us is a 14 hour bus drive. Let´s say it was kind of crazy. Of course the bus drive had funny parts and interesting conversations but in German we would describe it as "ZACH". There were some safety hazards because some people slept on the ground and nobody had their seatbelts on but it was more comfortable that way😉. Overall there isn´t much to say about the drive.                                                   Afterwards it was time to go onto the ship.  Let´s say it didn't start well, because we immediately got a task from our teachers Ernst Fischer, Elisabeth Ortbauer, Markus Hintereitner and Ulrike Moser. At the beginning it was a bit challenging for us because it was kind of awkward to speak to random strangers and interview them, but after we stepped out of our comfort zone we were...

All our bags are packed...

 ...we´re ready to go, leaving now... Just some images from our take-off last night, taken at 2.30 am - the kids from 4L and 5AT were really excited to leave and couldn´t wait for the coach (our luxury bus from Ratzenböck definitely deserves that name) to arrive and pack up. On our way now, and just approaching Hoeck van Holland, where we'll be boarding our overnight ferry - more about that later in our first students´ blog entry. And - do not fret, I am not really driving! ;-) ERF

Our first entry! This is us, the 5AT

  Hi guys,  this is us, the 5AT - and this is our new blog where we tell you things about our class, our activities and about our upcoming trip, our roadtrip to England. We will keep anyone who is interested updated here - with pics and infos about everyday we spent in England travelling around the country. There will be many things to see, so you can expect some interesting information.
