Day 5: Our trip to Wells and Glastonbury

Today we had to leave our hostel at half past eight after we had eaten a tasty breakfast. Then we spent 1 hour on the coach(bus) where we drove to our first city of the day, Wells.

Wells is a small cathedral city in the county of Somerset, in the southwest of England. It is famous for its historic architecture, medieval atmosphere, and impressive cathedral.

In the rain, we walked to Wells Cathedral. We were allowed to go into the cathedral and Ulli gave us much information about the attraction through the audio guides. Wells Cathedral is a famous Gothic cathedral in Wells, England. It was built starting in 1175 and is over 850 years old. The church has a long central nave, a large tower in the middle, and beautiful stained-glass windows. It is known for its impressive architecture and historic medieval clock.

When we got out Theo had his prasentation about the city Wells and about the cathedral. Then we got 40 minutes of free time where we had to do interviews with the locals and most of us went in to the cafe Costa to have drink because it was raining cats and dogs.

After that we sat 20 minutes on the bus and drove to Glastonbury. The first thing we did when we arrived was to eat lunch in front of the bus. Hansi, our bus driver, made us some sausages that we could eat with different kinds of sides like bread and horseradish. Next Raoul presented Glastonbury Abbey to us and told us some interesting facts. Afterwards we had a guided tour through Glastonbury Abbey. Glastonbury Abbey was a famous monastery in England. It was built many years ago and became an important religious place. According to a legend, King Arthur and Queen Guinevere were buried there. Today, only the ruins of the abbey remain.

The whole day it was quite windy and the sun never really shun and sometimes it even rained a little bit.

Right now we are sitting on the bus and still have a little bit of a ride in front of us. In the end we gained much new information and saw a lot of interesting things.

We are looking forward to the next few days:))

Yours sincerely

Fini & Klara
